The Shanghai Wood Industry Research Institute(SWIRI), founded in 1978, is one of the Largest research centers for wood industry in China. It is mainly engaged in applied research, development research such as wood processing, wood based panels making, specific wood products, panel surface finishing, new wood adhesives, machinery and automation. We offer design, manfacture and installation for the whole plant equipment including non standard woodworking machines. We are able to manufacture test & automatic controlunits e.g. wood moisture meters, provide test services of physical & chemical analysis for wood products etc.
¡¡¡¡SWIRI consists of five research division and two offices: Machinery Design, Electronic Instruments, Wood Processing, Information and Technical Materials, Shanghai Quality Supervision & Inspection Station of Wood Products, Finance and Administrative Office. In order to speed up technical achievements transfer, we established two companies in 1992. "Xin Shen Scientific & Technical Co." is engaged in manufacturing and managing sales affairs of electronic instruments. "Xin Guo Scientific & Technical Industry Co." is engaged in business of woodworking machinery. We recently bulit up "Shanghai Wood Industry Qing Pu Laboratory Factory", engaged in producing and sales affairs of wood adhesives and special wood products.
¡¡¡¡More than 70 people including 73 per cent technical personnel, 37 per cent engineers and senior engineers are involved with the institute. It has 11,000m 2 building area, 415 sets of laboratory equipment and 10 sets of computer, maintains a library with some 12,000 scientific and technical books (overseas' 30 per cent), 422 types of magazines as well as 10,000 technical paper, samples, standards (overseas' 52 per cent). Our collect books line the second in the Chinese wood industry.
¡¡¡¡SWIRI, powerful in technique and excellent in personnel, is able to offor technical services and consultation. We made great effort to help "Simao", "Jinghong" in Yun Nan province, built up wood based panels factories and wood products mills. Nine factories are now bringing benifits to local economy.
